To create the display, install this driver: amyuni. You will then see another display in Display settings. Set that to extend. Now you can stream to that display via Chrome. My answer above is indeed still working for me on Windows 10 Version I would stay away from downloading third-party software drivers to make your Chromecast work--especially from unknown sources like the proposed amyuni.

Hoping there is another workaround that doesnt involve a physical dummy hdmi - as my laptop only has USB-C ports. What a bummer. You cannot use the monitor in a Chromebook as a second monitor for Windows, if that's what you mean. Otherwise, casting in general cannot be used as a second display for Windows.

I have a projector that I am trying to conne ct to my computer via Chromecast, and use to extend not mirror my display. I can use a cord because the projector is hung on the ceiling. Ive tried the Chromecast work arounds I have found but they no longer work for Windows So did your problem change since you posted asking for help with a second monitor? Is it now a projector?

You should start over and post up the question about a projector and not a second monitor as that is clearly what it says in your title and first post, which mentions nothing about a projector.

Its always been a projector but Im trying to use it as a second monitor via Chromecast instead of an hdmi cable. I dont think the projector is relevant aside from the fact that it is mounted on the ceiling and thus too far and unfeasible to connect a cable.
